Virtual Prime Vendor

Overview

Virtual Prime Vendor. The benefits of a Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) virtual prime vendor (VPV) contract is that the prime vendor is responsible for total supply support for a specific weapon system or a maintenance facility. Additional benefits are achieved through electronic commerce, and e-business connectivity for supply-chain management. Longer-term, and broader scope contracts reduce the government's need to manage maintenance and supply systems involving multiple activities and contracts. Instead, single-point accountability allows the government to focus on system performance. Further, a single provider is better able to integrate support and enhancement responsibilities.
