Prime Vendor Support

Overview

Prime Vendor Support. Under a PVS contract, the prime vendor assumes complete responsibility for overall field performance of an end item or system. The benefits of PVS include reduction in the cost of ownership, continuous upgrades and modernization, single point accountability, performance-based contracting, and reduced levels of supportability. This approach frees up resources over time through elimination of excess capacity, both private and public. This concept promotes significant improvements in efficiency because a single provider integrates support and enhancement. The prime vendor establishes and executes appropriate contracts with major vendors, suppliers, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), system integrators, and government best providers.
