collection and distribution center for information, statistics, and
resources related to sexual violence. It serves as a resource for state,
territory, and tribal anti-sexual assault coalitions, rape crisis centers,
allied organizations, community projects, policy-makers, government
entities, media, educators, health care providers and others working to
address and eliminate sexual assault.
The National Violence Against Women Prevention Research Center (NVAWPRC)
seeks to prevent violence against women by advancing knowledge about
prevention research and fostering collaboration among advocates,
practitioners, policymakers, and researchers. The NVAWPRC informs
researchers and practitioners of training opportunities, policy decisions,
and recent research findings. The website also offers the latest research on
violence against women. The goal of the National Electronic Network on Violence Against Women (VAWnet) is to harness and use electronic communication technology as a resource for those working to end violence against women. In order to accomplish this goal, VAWnet staff and consultants collect, analyze, prepare and electronically disseminate information and materials on domestic violence, sexual assault, and related issues via VAWnet's web site and facilitated listserv discussions.
This website provides professional publications about violence against
women, intimate partner violence, sexual assault, adolescent dating
violence, and patient education materials in both English and Spanish. The Center for Sex Offender Management's (CSOM) goal is to enhance public safety by preventing further victimization through improving the management of adult and juvenile sex offenders in the community.
The Clearinghouse on Abuse and Neglect of the Elderly (CANE) is the nation's
largest archive of published research, training resources, government
documents, and other sources on elder abuse. The CANE collection is fully
computerized and contains nearly 5,000 holdings. You can search CANE's
database to obtain references pertaining to the many facets of elder
mistreatment. Through an international network of professionals, Communities Against
Violence Network (CAV-net) enhances collaboration among rape crisis centers,
law enforcement, prosecutors, advocates, and others. CAV-net also addresses
sexual assault, rape, incest, domestic violence, youth violence, and the
victimization of people with disabilities. For more than two decades, the Family Violence Prevention Fund (FVPF) has worked to end violence against women and children around the world. FVFP was instrumental in developing the landmark Violence Against Women Act passed by Congress in 1994, and has continued to break new ground by reaching new audiences including men and youth, promoting leadership within communities to ensure that violence prevention efforts become self-sustaining, and transforming the way health care providers, police, judges, employers and others address violence.
Family Violence and Sexual Assault Institute The mission of the Family Violence and Sexual Assault Institute (FVSAI) is to improve the quality of life for individuals on an international level by sharing and disseminating vital information, improving networking among professionals, and assisting with program evaluation, consultation, and training that promotes violence-free living.
Faith Trust Institute The Faith Trust Institute (formerly Center for the Prevention of Sexual and Domestic Violence) provides training and educational resources for clergy, lay leaders, seminary faculty, chaplains, policy makers of religious institutions, and community advocates about the faith aspects of sexual and domestic violence. Generation Five
Generation Five is a nonprofit organization that brings together diverse
community leaders working to end child sexual abuse within five generations.
Its programs provide leadership training to community members, activists and
agency professionals and foster national strategy and information exchange
about child sexual abuse Men Can Stop Rape empowers male youth and
the institutions that serve them to work as allies with women to prevent
rape and other forms of men's violence. Through awareness-to-action
education and community organizing, the organization promotes gender equity
and focuses on building men's capacity to be strong without being violent. Men Stopping Rape Men Stopping Rape (MSR) is one of the
nation’s oldest and most active community-based group of men working to end
male violence against women and men. MSR directly involves participants in
workshops and lectures in classes, fraternities, residence halls,
sororities, high schools, prisons, and the workplace. Men Stopping Violence works locally and
nationally to dismantle sexist belief systems, social structures, and
institutional practices that oppress women and children and that dehumanize
men themselves. The National Center on Elder Abuse is
dedicated to educating the public about elder abuse, neglect, and
exploitation and its tragic consequences. The Center is an
internationally-recognized resource for policy leaders, practitioners,
prevention specialists, researchers, advocates, families, and concerned
citizens. This website and toll-free call center was
created to provide free, reliable health information for women everywhere.
The National Center on Domestic and Sexual Violence (NCDSV) provides
customized training and consultation, influences policy, promotes
collaboration, and enhances diversity with the goal of ending domestic and
sexual violence. The Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN) is a national hotline for survivors of sexual assault. RAINN offers free, confidential counseling and support 24 hours a day from anywhere in the country.
Speaking Out About Rape Speaking Out Against Rape (SOAR) is a
nonprofit organization dedicated to educating society about the "truth" of
rape, ensuring victim's rights are protected, making certain the medical and
judicial systems are victim friendly, and helping survivors find their
voices to unlock the silence. Stop Educator Sexual Abuse, Misconduct, and Exploitation (SESAME) works to prevent sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment of students by teachers and other school staff.
STOP IT NOW! STOP IT NOW! is a national, public
health–based organization working to prevent and ultimately eradicate child
sexual abuse. Through public education, policy advocacy, and research and
evaluation, STOP IT NOW! calls on abusers and potential abusers to stop
their abusive behavior and seek help. The Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) was
established by the 1984 Victims of Crime Act. OVC oversees diverse programs
that benefit crime victims and provides substantial funding to state victim
assistance and compensation programs that help victims to heal. The office
supports training to educate criminal justice and allied professionals about
the rights and needs of crime victims. OVC also sponsors an annual event in
April to commemorate National Crime Victims Rights Week.
