The Defense Logistics Agency is a logistics combat support agency whose primary role is to provide supplies and services to America's military forces worldwide.  Our 28,600 (as of April 2001) skilled and dedicated civilian and military staff work around the clock, in all 50 states, about 28 countries, at over 500 sites located close to, and partnered with our customers and suppliers.

DLA's mission includes managing over four million consumable items and processing more than 30 million annual distribution actions.

Our responsibilities have grown to the point that today, if our forces fight with it, wear it, eat it, burn it as fuel or otherwise use it, DLA probably provides it, arranges for its reutilization after the consumer no longer needs it.  Ours is a responsibility we take seriously and execute proudly.

DLA must continue helping our customers maintain readiness at reduced cost and sustain current and future deployed operations.  That is our challenge, and that is what we will do.

The following web sites provide information on buying and selling products with DLA:

DLA Customer Focused Web Sites

DLA Customer Support Network 1-877-DLA-CALL - New toll-free number for customers to contact DLA.

DLA Customer Service Points of Contact - DLA representatives by state, inventory control points, service centers, and other helpful customer service POCs.

Buying and Selling - Logistics Operations (J-3) - The Logistics Operations directorate includes supply centers, service centers, and a distribution center. J-3 procures, manages, stores, and distributes 4.1 million items for U.S. military customers, other U.S. federal agencies, and allied forces throughout the world. The command also performs a wide variety of logistical services and serves as a full combat support partner with the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps.

DoD Emall - The only web site you need to buy DLA-managed items.  You may purchase items by paying with either a Government Purchase card or the traditional DoDAAC/Fund Cite.

DLA Requisition Status/NSN Data Query - All users are required to register.

Real Time Requisition Status for Distribution Standard System (DSS) Items from DLA Distribution Depots - If your requisition has been sent from the DLA Supply Center to the Distribution Depot, you can now get status on-line.  A DLA customer with a web browser in the '.mil' or '.gov' Internet domain can access the web site.

DoDAAC - The Department of Defense Activity Address Code (DoDAAC) is one of the codes used in support of the Defense Transportation Payment Program. It is a six position code that uniquely identifies a unit, activity, or organization that has the authority to requisition and/or receive materiel. The first position designates the particular Service/Agency element of ownership. For a more extensive DoDAAC search, go to https://daynt6.daas.dla.mil/dodaaf/down_dodaaf.pl.

Defense Reutilization Marketing Outlets (DRMO) Sites - Resellable surplus property is available at our DRMOs. DRMOs are warehouses co-located with military installations. A DRMO visit allows you to see property available for inspection. The mission of DRMS is to maximize benefit to the American taxpayer by marketing property the U.S. military no longer needs. DRMS saves taxpayers money by permitting government agencies and certain non-profit organizations to obtain property for reuse free of charge, often eliminating the need to buy new property. Property that is not requisitioned in this way is sold to private companies and individuals, usually in sealed bid auctions.

DLA Vendor Focused Web Sites

Procurement Gateway - The Procurement Gateway is an integrated collection of automated systems providing oversight for the management of procurement data.  The Procurement Gateway allows prospective government contractors to perform comprehensive and detailed searches against Request for Quotation (RFQ) and Award documents.

DoD Emall - Supplier's Corner - Everything you need to know about being a supplier to DLA.

Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization Office - Through its contracting offices, DLA buys more than four million different items for Department of Defense (DoD) activities. DLA does not review or evaluate new items for possible use by the military Services nor does it issue research and development (R&D) contracts.

Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTACs) - The Defense Logistics Agency, on behalf of the Secretary of Defense, administers the DoD Procurement Technical Assistance Program (PTAP). PTA Centers are a local resource available that can provide assistance to business firms in marketing products and services to the Federal, state and local governments.

Central Contractor Registration (CCR) - Central Contractor Registration (CCR) is the Federal Government's single collection point for vendor information.  CCR collects, validates, stores and disseminates vendor data to authorized Government entities.  For CCR registration help or to find out the status of your registration call DLIS Customer Service 1-(888)-227-2423 or 269 961-4725.  Please have your Dun & Bradstreet number available if known.

Cage Codes - The Defense Logistics Information Service (DLIS) has sole responsibility for assigning and maintaining the CAGE Code Master File.  The CAGE Code is a five position code that identifies contractors doing business with the Federal Government, NATO member nations, and other foreign governments.  The CAGE Code is used to support a variety of mechanized systems throughout the government and provides for a standardized method of identifying a given facility at a specific location. The code may be used for a facility clearance, a pre-award survey, automated Bidders Lists, identification of Debarred Bidders, fast pay processes, etc.

NOTE CONCERNING CCR AND CAGE CODES:  Registration in the CCR database is required prior to the award of any contract, basic agreement, blanket ordering agreement or blanket purchasing agreement unless the award results from a solicitation issued on or before May 31, 1998. Having a CAGE Code alone is no longer sufficient to qualify a contractor to do business with The Federal Government.  If you do not have a CAGE Code, one will be assigned to you upon completion of your CCR registration.
