The Patent Electronic Business Center is the place for performing electronic business transactions with the USPTO. At this site you will find a growing set of tools that will allow you to submit information and applications, retrieve data and check the status of pending actions. As new electronic tools are developed they will be made available here.

Many of these tools require registration to assure the security of the transactions. Currently the following tools are available:

Patent Application Information Retrieval (PAIR)
Provides customers direct secure access to their own patent application status information as well as general patent information publicly available.

Complete PAIR operation, including access to pending application status, requires user registration.

The Electronic Filing System (EFS)
The Electronic Filing System (EFS) supports secure electronic filing of Patent application documents via the Internet. EFS is a system for submitting New Utility Patent applications and Pre-grant publication resubmissions information in electronic publication-ready form. EFS also allows the submission of Computer Readable Format (CRF) Sequence Listings for pending paper biotechnology Patent applications.
