Welcome to the Home Page of CIB W14: Fire

CIB - International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction - is the international association providing a global network for international exchange and cooperation in research and innovation in building and construction. CIB addresses all steps in the process of basic and applied research, documentation and transfer of research results, and the implementation and actual application of them in practice.

CIB Members are organizations and individuals active in the research community, industry, government and education. Nominated experts participate in about 50 Task Groups and Working Commissions. Through these, over 5000 experts worldwide from about 500 organizations exchange the latest information, initiate collective R&D projects, organize workshops, seminars, symposia and conferences and publish proceedings, technical analyses, state of the art reports and practice recommendations.

What is CIB W14 about?

The present emphasis of CIB W14: Fire is on fire safety engineering needed for performance based fire codes or regulations. To meet our objectives, we have initiated several projects with specified goals. We meet annually, arrange workshops or co-sponsor symposia and conferences.

The work of W14 is a voluntary activity: our achievements depend on the efforts of our members. The current membership of W14 is about 75 from 30 different countries around the world and it is growing.
