Inventory of Qualitative Research
About the Inventory
The Inventory of Qualitative Research site provides a catalog of
qualitative research that has been conducted in nutrition
and physical activity dating back to 1997. It is not a comprehensive
list of all of the qualitative research that has been done in physical
activity, nutrition, or related fields. We suspect that these entries
represent a small number of the qualitative studies that have actually
been conducted in these fields. The CDC called for a submission of
research to the inventory through various agencies and entries. Entries were made on a volunteer basis. It
is our hope that this database will facilitate the sharing of more studies.
Using the Site
Use this site to
- Search for qualitative research by
- Research topic
- Target audience
- Specific text words
- Print search results for future reference
- Share your research
The CDC also uses information from the inventory to improve its
technical assistance to states and organizations and to track qualitative
research activities.
Using Research Information
After reviewing information from the research inventory, you can
- Communicate with other organizations that are conducting or have
conducted similar research.
- Exchange ideas about research topics, findings, and potential
intervention strategies.

These activities can lead to increasingly effective and diverse
qualitative studies and intervention efforts.

We will add new research to the inventory on a regular basis.

Suggesting Improvements to the Site
This site was created to enhance the exchange of information and ideas
about qualitative research in the fields of nutrition and physical
activity. Over time, we envision the site changing and growing to meet
evolving needs, perhaps with additional fields or types of research. We
are counting on you to tell us how we can continue to improve this
resource!
Please contact us to let us know what would make
this site more useful.
