Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides professional confidential services for HHS employees who are experiencing personal concerns which may be affecting their quality of life or ability to perform on the job. For individual employees, the program offers assessment, referral, short-term counseling, and follow-up for employees confronted with family and marital problems, substance abuse, stress, depression, and any other emotional and life challenges.

Supervisors and managers may also seek the assistance of the EAP for help with referring employees who might be experiencing work performance and conduct changes due to personal problems. Work organizations experiencing situations that impact the health and wellness of their employees, such as reorganizations, should also consider the services of the EAP.

Employees can locate an EAP office, learn more about their EAP, read recent newsletters, download the HHS EAP policy, learn about workplace violence guidance and other related materials, by going to the HHS Intranet.

If you would like additional information about the HHS EAP, call 202-690-8229 or e-mail hhseap@hhs.gov.
