Blue Ribbon Smoked Fish Co. Issues Recall on Blue Ribbon Sable Plate 1108

Blue Ribbon Smoked Fish Co. of Brooklyn, New York has been advised by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets that an analysis conducted on Blue Ribbon Sable Plate 1108 sold between 10/25 and 10/30 revealed the presence of the Listeria monocytogenes organism. Consequently the firm is recalling the product identified by the above code. This recall is limited to the reference code only. The lot consisted of total of 25 plates (appx. 65 lbs) and was distributed in Metropolitan New York, South West New Jersey, and North New Jersey areas. Consumers are advised not to consume the product, and to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Listeria is a common organism found in nature. It can cause serious complications for pregnant women, and people with compromised immune systems. It can also cause flu-like symptoms in healthy individuals.
