Food King Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Sulfites in Dehydrated Pineapple

West Haven, CT - March 7, 2001- Food King, Inc. is voluntarily recalling Dehydrated Pineapple in 250 gm round plastic trays, because it may contain undeclared sulfites. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The product was distributed to Asian Supermarkets in: MA, NY, VA, MN, MI, PA, RI, NC, GA, TN, OH. The product is imported from Thailand and the label failed to declare sulfites. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem. The firm has ceased distribution of the product until the ingredient statement is corrected.

Consumers who have purchased the product are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 203-937-8283.
