Gar Shing Co., Inc. Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Milk in
Choco Chips Cookies

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- Brooklyn, NY -- May 8, 2003 -- Gar Shing Co., Inc., 201 Berry Street, Brooklyn, New York 11211 is recalling 5.7-oz. packages of Choco Chips cookies because it may contain undeclared milk. People who have allergies to milk may run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The recalled chocolate cookies is packaged in a paper box with the following code: 20004 and expire 00-12, they were sold in the New York metropolitan area.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets food inspectors revealed the presence of undeclared milk in the chocolate chips, packages which did not declare a milk ingredient on the label.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

Consumers who have purchased the Choco Chips cookies should return it to the place of purchase.
