Herky's Food Products, Inc. Recalls Deluxe Deviled Crabs and Deluxe Crab Rounds

Pittsburgh, PA - March 9, 2001- Herky's Food Products, Inc. is recalling Deluxe Deviled Crabs in all sizes packages and Deluxe Crab Rounds in all size packages, because they may contain undeclared egg whites. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to eggs run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reaction if they consume those products.

Deluxe Deviled Crabs and Deluxe crab rounds were distributed to Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio and sold in Giant Eagle Grocery stores exclusively.

Recalled products are labeled as manufactured by Herky's Food Products Inc. The recalled products can be packaged either individually or in multiple crab/round units.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the Deluxe Deviled Crabs and Deluxe Crab Rounds were distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of egg whites. This recall is being conducted under the full knowledge of the FDA. The recalled products pose no health threat to those without an egg allergy and are entirely safe for consumption.
