Ireland's Own Recalls Jacobs Mikado Biscuits (250 gram)

Maspeth, NY - June 19, 2001 -- Ireland's Own is recalling Jacobs Mikado biscuits in 250 gram plastic trays with product code, Best Before 17APR01 0239 2B because the product contains undeclared sulfites. The product is manufactured by Jacobs biscuits, Belgard Road, Tallaght, Dublin 24, Ireland and The Jacobs Bakery Limited, P.O. Box 14, Liverpool, L97JX, U.K. People who have allergies to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume foods containing it.

The recalled Jacobs biscuits were distributed in the New York 5 boroughs and Nassau County. No illnesses have been reported to date.

Recall was initiated after routine sampling by Food Inspectors from the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets revealed the presence of undeclared sulfites. Consumers who have purchased Jacobs Mikado biscuits, 250gram with the above coding are urged to return it to the store where it was purchased.
