King Nut Company Issues An Allergy Alert On Possible Peanut Contamination In Summer Harvest Brand Snack Mix

SOLON, OH - April 6, 2001 -- King Nut Company is recalling its 1 ounce packages of Summer Harvest Brand Express Mix because they may contain undeclared peanuts. People who have allergies to peanuts run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product and peanuts are present.

The product was handed out on Delta Express Air Lines only-- not the main Delta nor their connector partners. Delta Express flies out of Orlando, Florida and mainly services most major cities in the state of Florida.

The product is identified as "Express Mix" and appears in a 1 ounce red foil bag. The recall is for a code date T0106102, that appears on the back of the bag .

There is an allegation by a consumer that undeclared peanuts were found in the mix. The date of this occurrence was March 11, 2001.

Please note that all retention samples at the production plant and all samples pulled from the airline and distributor turned out to be negative as to their finding of peanuts.

No illnesses have been reported to date and no other allegation has been made.

Consumers that are in possession of this product with the above code date are asked to destroy it. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 1-800-860-5464.
