Once Again Nut Butter Recalls Whole Foods Brand Organic Crunchy Peanut Butter
Nunda, NY - December 19, 2001 -- Once Again Nut Butter of Nunda, NY is recalling approximately 400 cases of Whole Foods Brand 16 oz Organic Crunchy Peanut Butter due to mislabeling. The product contains almond butter instead of peanut butter. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to almonds, may run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
The product is distributed by Whole Foods Markets, and sold exclusively at
the following retail outlets:
Whole Foods Market, Fresh Fields, Wellspring, Harrys or Bread & Circus
stores. These retail outlets are located in the following states:

The following can identify the product:
The product can be identified by Whole Foods label that reads Organic Crunchy Peanut Butter. The product comes in a 16oz glass jar with a gold metal cap that has use by dates of 10/29/02 and 10/30/02. (The label will have the bar code UPC 0 99482 16002 9). Only this UPC with use by 10/29/01" and "use by 10/30/02 on the cap are affected.
Explanation: The problem was discovered when a case labeled as Almond Butter was found to contain jars labeled as peanut butter. There have been no illnesses reported to date.
Consumers:
Return the mislabeled product to the place of purchase for a full refund or
replacement.
