Blue Ribbon Smoked Fish Co. Recalls Baked Salmon Salad

Brooklyn, NY - August 31, 2000 - Blue Ribbon Smoked Fish Co., is voluntarily recalling its Baked Salmon salad.

It was revealed during New York State food laboratory testing that they may have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy persons may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. To date there have been no reported illnesses.

This product comes in 8 oz. plastic containers with lot #212 on the bottom and with an expiration date of 0904. The product was distributed in New Jesrsey.
