Sino American Health Products, Inc. of Torrance, California is recalling ZHEN QI HERBAL EXTRACT CAPSULES/ ZHENQI CAPSULES and Tongyitang DIABETES ANGEL HYPOGLYCEMIC CAPSULES due to the presence of the undeclared drugs Glyburide and Phenformin. Glyburide and Phenformin are drugs used to lower blood sugar. People who have low blood sugar or those with diabetes run the risk of serious or life threatening complications if they consume these products.

Tongyitang Diabetes Angel Pearl Hypoglycemic Capsules/Zhen Qi Capsules, Tongyitang Diabetes Angel Hypoglycemic Capsules/Zhen Qi Capsules, and Zhen Qi Herbal Extract Capsules are packed in 60 capsule bottles. All product codes of these products are being recalled.

These products were distributed nationally and internationally via retail outlets, mail order and the Internet

Zhen Qi Herbal Extract Capsules are packed in white bottles with green label with silver writing. These bottles are packed in a green carton with silver writing.

Zhen Qi Capsules are packed in white bottles with a white label with red and green print. These bottles are packed in white coartons with black, green and red print. The cartons read either TONGYITANG Diabetes Angel Pearl Hypoglycemic Capsules or TONGYITANG diabetes Angel Hypoglycemic Capsules.

There have been no illness that have been reported to date.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that these products contain undeclared drugs, glyburide and Phenformin, which are drugs used to treat diabetes.
