Al Cohens Bakery Recalls Twist, Dinner and Onion Rolls Due to Undeclared Whey and Nonfat Dry Milk

Buffalo, NY - February 20, 2002 -- Al Cohens Bakery, 1132 Broadway, Buffalo, NY 14212 is recalling its twist rolls, dinner rolls, and onion rolls because they contain whey and nonfat dry milk not declared on the label. People who have an allergy to dairy products run the risk of severe or life threatening reactions if they consume these products.

The recalled dinner rolls were sold in 15 oz plastic bags; the twist rolls and onion rolls were sold in 21 oz plastic bags. All had comes "sell by 2/23" or "sell by 2/24". The products were distributed in western New York state.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered by NYS Agriculture and Markets food inspectors that the whey containing product was being packaged in containers that did not reveal the presence of whey. The labeling breakdown has been corrected.

Consumers who have purchased these twist, dinner, and onion rolls are urged to return them to the place of purchase or contact the company at 716-892-8148 ext. 21.
