America's Catch, Inc. Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Egg White in Breaded Catfish Nuggets

Itta Bena, MS - December 4, 2002 -- America's Catch, Inc. of Itta Bena, MS is voluntarily recalling 2.5 lb bags of Breaded Catfish Nuggets because the product contains undeclared egg white. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to egg whites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The product was distributed to retail establishments in: AL, AR, AZ, CO, CT, FL, GA, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MI, MN, MO, MS, MT, NC, NE, NH, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI, WV, and WY.

The product is packaged in transparent plastic bags labeled as America's Catch Breaded Catfish Nuggets in blue on a white background, 2.5 lbs.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

This recall was initiated after a review of the ingredient statement revealed that product containing egg white was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of egg white.

Consumers who have questions regarding this recall may contact America's Catch, Inc. at 662-254-7200. Those who are sensitive to egg whites and have purchased this product may return the product to: America's Catch, Inc., Route 1, Old Sunflower Road, Itta Bena, MS 38941 for a full refund.
