Ampacco Has Recalled Always Save Taco Seasoning Mix Due to Unlabeled Wheat, Soy and Milk

Hunt Valley, MD - January 29, 2003 -- Ampacco, Inc. has recalled 1.25 oz. pouches of taco seasoning mix with OCT2804BH code date sold under the Always Save brand. The Always Save Taco Seasoning Mix contains undeclared wheat, soy and milk ingredients. People who have allergies to wheat, soy or milk run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The recalled Always Save Taco Seasoning Mix was distributed to retail grocery stores in AR, IL, IA, KS, KY, MO, NE, OK, TN, and TX. The product comes in 1.25 oz. pouches with the expiration date of OCT2804BH. The code date is found embossed on the right edge of the pouch. Approximately 9,000 pouches were distributed.

The recall was initiated after a manufacturing error was discovered which resulted in the Always Save Taco Seasoning Mix pouches being filled with brown gravy mix rather than taco seasoning mix. Two consumer complaints have been received for poor product performance, but no illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported to date.

Consumers who have purchased pouches of 1.25 oz. Always Save Taco Seasoning Mix with the UPC code 70038 33660 and expiration date of OCT2804BH should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact Ampacco, Inc. at 800-717-8820.
