April Hill Holiday Frozen Cookie Dough Voluntarily Recalled In 7 States From Gordon Food Service And Gfs Marketplace Stores
St. Louis, MO - December 19, 2001 -- Sara Lee Bakery Group is voluntarily recalling April Hill Holiday Theme Cookie Cutouts (a frozen cookie-dough product) in 5.99-pound cartons because eggs are not listed as an ingredient on the package.
Consumption of this product by people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to eggs may result in a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction. This product only poses a hazard to egg-sensitive individuals. The company has received one consumer complaint regarding this product. Sara Lee Bakery Group is working together with the FDA in undertaking a voluntary recall of this product and also has notified the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network.
The mislabeled product was distributed solely to GFS Marketplace Stores in Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Ohio and to Gordon Food Service restaurant and food service customers in those four states as well as Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Gordon has alerted food service customers to the fact that eggs are included in the ingredients of this product.
The recall applies to all 5.99-pound April Hill cartons of 72 preformed frozen sugar cookies in the shapes of bells, trees and stars. No other brands, products or sizes are involved in this recall. All April Hill products that declare "egg" in the ingredient panel are not affected.
Consumers may return the cookies to any GFS Marketplace store for a full refund. Consumers who have any questions or concerns should call toll-free (800) 449-4284 (Extensions 8626, 8656, or 8676) between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. CST Monday through Friday.
