Arnie's Bakery Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Milk in "8 Pack Date Nut Cookies"
Grand Rapids, MI - December 14, 2001 -- Arnies Bakery of Grand Rapids, Michigan is recalling Arnies Brand 8 Pack Date Nut Cookies (Item # 755 - sold at room temperature).
The recalled product is distributed by Arnies Bakery, 722 Leonard St. N.W., Grand Rapids, Michigan. The product is manufactured by Awrey Bakeries, Inc. 12301 Farmington Road, Livonia, Michigan. The Date nut cookies were distributed in Lower Western Michigan to grocery stores and Arnies Bakery outlets.
The product is being recalled because of undeclared nonfat milk. Although the amount of milk in the product is extremely small, people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to dairy products run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
The eight pack cookies are packaged on a flat corrugated board wrapped in cellophane.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this product.
The recall was initiated after the manufacturer (Awrey Bakeries) discovered that the ingredient statement on the label did not list nonfat milk. Arnies Bakery issued a recall because they distribute "Date Nut Cookies" that are manufactured by Awreys Bakeries.
Consumers who have purchased any of these cookies are urged to return the Arnies Brand Date Nut Cookies to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 1-616-458-1107. This product is being recalled in cooperation with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
