Arnie's Bakery Recalls Turtle Elegance Tortes Due to Undeclared Eggs

Grand Rapids, MI--December 28, 2001--Arnie's Bakery is voluntarily recalling its 12" Turtle Elegance Tortes because eggs are not listed as an ingredient on the package.

Consumption of this product by people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to eggs may result in a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction. This product only poses a hazard to egg-sensitive individuals. The company has received one complaint regarding this product. Arnie's Bakery is working together with the FDA in undertaking a voluntary recall of this product.

The mislabeled product was packed under the GFS Label and was distributed solely to GFS Marketplace Stores in Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, and Ohio and to Gordon Food Service customers in those four states as well as Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Gordon Food Service has alerted food service customers to the fact that eggs are included in the ingredients of this product.

The recall applies to all lots of the GFS 12" Turtle Elegance Tortes. No other brands, products or sizes are involved in this recall.

Consumers may return the Tortes to any GFS Marketplace store for a full refund. Consumers who have any questions or concerns should call Arnie's Bakery toll-free at 1-800-343-4361 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
