Berkeley Farms Recalls Certain Dairy Products After Tests Confirmed They Contain Antibiotics
Hayward, California - June 13, 2002 -- Berkeley Farms has initiated a voluntary recall of certain dairy products after tests showed they may contain antibiotics. Antibiotics are sometimes given to dairy cows as part of their health maintenance program.
The recall is limited to the following products, sold only in Northern California stores, and only with the "sell by" dates listed below. Affected brands include Berkeley Farms, Dairy Dawn, Ralph's, Mountain Dairy, Sysco (Wholesome Farms), Smart & Final, Albertson's, Good Day and Best Yet.

Only products bearing the following plant codes are affected: 06-407 and 06-21.
"Consumers can return any products involved in the recall to their stores for a refund. We regret any inconvenience this may have caused our valued customers," noted Berkeley Farms spokesman David Margulies.
In rare cases individuals who are allergic to antibiotics can have a reaction if they consume these products.
