Biery Cheese Company Recalls Cheese Cubes

Louisville, OH - August 13, 2001 -- Biery Cheese Company is voluntarily recalling its 8 to 10 oz. packages of Horseradish, Colored American, White American and Colored Colby Cubes because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria Monocytogenes, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young, pregnant, elderly, frail or adults with weakened immune systems.

The recalled cubes were distributed in retail stores in Central PA.

The product comes in an 8 to 10 oz. clear package with Biery label and sell by date marked 12-3-01 on top of package.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

The potential for contamination was noted after routine testing by the Company revealed the possible presence of Listeria Monocytogenes in 8 to 10 oz. packages of cubes.

Consumers who have purchased 8 to 10 oz. packages of cubes are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the Company at 1-800-243-3731.
