Cavallaro Specialty Foods Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Sulfites in Flora Imported Sun-Dried Tomatoes

Liverpool, NY - June 26, 2000 - Cavallaro Specialty Foods, Inc. of Liverpool, NY is voluntary recalling its 4 oz. packages of Flora Imported Sun-Dried Tomatoes (Bags). People who have allergies to Sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The recalled "Sun-Dried Tomatoes" were distributed in Central and Western New York, in retail stores. The product comes in a 4 oz. plastic bag.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the sulfites containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of sulfites.

Consumers who have purchased the 4 oz. packages of "Flora Imported Sun-Dried Tomatoes" are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact Flora Foods, Inc. at 1-800-697-3567.
