Cosmo's Food Products Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Sulfites in Sundried Tomatoes in Pure Olive Oil Packed in 8 Ounce Jars

WEST HAVEN, CT- June 7, 2001 -- Cosmo's Food Products of West Haven, CT is voluntarily recalling 7 and 8 ounce Sundried Tomatoes in Pure Olive Oil because some labels may not declare sulfites on the ingredient statement, which are present in the product. People who have an allergy to sulfites are at risk of serious or life threatening allergic reactions if the product is consumed.

The product is packed in glass jars under the following labels: Cosmo's 8 Ounce; Ciro 8 Ounce; Famoso 8 Ounce; and, Dal Raccolta 7 Ounce. All lot codes are being recalled.

This product was distributed to retail stores from New England to Washington, DC.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that some labels were printed omitting the declaration of sulfites on the ingredient statement.

Consumers who have this product can return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
