FIL-AM Specialty Foods Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Egg in Eggrolls

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, April 5, 1999 - FIL-AM Specialty Foods is recalling two flavors of "A 1 Tropical" brand Philippine style eggrolls, "Vegetable Lumpia (Plain)" and "Lumpia Vegetable with Shrimp", because they may contain undeclared egg. People who have allergies to egg run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The egg rolls were shipped to distributors located in Los Angeles, California and South San Francisco, California who distributed them to retail stores.

The products are packaged in a limited 24 ounce bag bearing production code "0009228-0002089". The products are labeled as Distributed by: Phil. Foodtrade Corp., L.A., CA and Foodasia Int'l. Corp., S.S.F., CA.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recall was initiated after FIL-AM Specialty Foods was notified by O'Tasty Foods, Inc., City of Industry, California that the wrappers that they supplied, used to make the eggrolls, contained undeclared egg.
