Fairfield Farms Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Sulphur Dioxide Ingredients in Red Barn Orange Pineapple Yogurt Cake Mix

Rochester, NY - October 26, 2001 -- Fairfield Farms, of Rochester, NY is recalling its 16 oz. bags of Red Barn Orange Pineapple Yogurt Cake Mix because they may contain undeclared sulphur dioxide ingredients, people who have allergies to surphur dioxide run the risk of an allergic reaction of they consume these products.

The Orange Pineapple Yogurt Cake Mixes were packaged in clear bag, and distributed to farm markets and gift stores in New York State.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the sulphur dioxide ingredients were distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of sulphur dioxide. The problem was caused by an oversight in the packaging process. Production of the product has been suspended until the company is certain that the problem has been corrected.

Customers who have purchased this product are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund or to contact Fairfield Farms at (716) 334-3179.
