Farr Candy Company Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Non-Fat Dry Milk in "Black Walnut" Candy Bars

Idaho Falls, ID - November 8, 2002 -- Farr Candy Company of Idaho Falls, ID is recalling its 1 ounce individually wrapped "Nostalgia Black Walnut" candy bars. They are sold by the 24-count box labeled "Black Walnut." The candy bars contain undeclared non-fat dry milk. People who have allergies to non-fat dry milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The recalled Nostalgia Black Walnuts candy bars were distributed in Idaho Falls through Farr Candy direct buy in their factory location and through Albertson's grocery stores. The product is not date coded.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this product.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the non-fat dry milk containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of non-fat dry milk.

Production of the product has been suspended until FDA and the company are certain that the product has been corrected.

Consumers who have purchased boxes of Nostalgia Black Walnut candy bars are urged to return them to the place of purchase with a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at (208) 522-8215.
