Frito-Lay Issues Voluntary Recall of Doritos Nacho Cheesier Tortilla Chips in Indiana, Ohio and Illinois Due to Undeclared Soy
PLANO, TX - April 17, 2002 -- Frito-Lay announced the voluntary recall of 1,667 cases (6 bags per case) of Doritos Nacho Cheesier Tortilla Chips in Indiana, Ohio and Illinois only. There are only 110 cases (660 bags) of this lot that may contain a soy-based seasoning. While no illnesses have been reported, people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. The company is now retrieving the product from its distribution system and store shelves.
The affected packages are limited to 13.5 ounce bags of Doritos Nacho Cheesier Tortilla Chips distributed in Indiana, Ohio and Illinois only. Those specific packages have a freshness date of June 4 and a nine-digit code number of 319309350. This nine-digit code number is located under the price mark.
