Frito-Lay Issues Voluntary Recall of 2¼ oz. Fritos Corn Chips in 10 States Due to Undeclared Soy
PLANO, TX - August 8, 2002 -- Frito-Lay announced the voluntary recall of 144 cases (8,640 bags) of 2¼ oz. Fritos Original Flavored Corn Chips. There are only 18 cases (1,080 bags) of this lot marked as Fritos Original that actually contain BBQ flavored product. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy run the risk of a serious or life threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
This product has been distributed only in Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Tennessee, Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, West Virginia and southern Illinois. This recall does not affect Chicago, IL. The affected packages have been distributed primarily to vending machines.
The only affected packages are 2¼ oz. Fritos Original that have a freshness date of September 10 located on the upper right hand side of the package and a 10 digit code number of 5342186293 immediately beneath the freshness code.
No other code date, package size or flavor is impacted.
