State Agriculture Commissioner Issues Chopped Garlic In Water Warning

New York - April 7, 2000 - State Agriculture Commissioner Nathan L. Rudgers today warned consumers not to eat Cora Brand Chopped Garlic in water, manufactured by Diva Farms, Ltd., 1301 Broad Street, Utica, NY due to improper processing. This product is packaged in 7-1/2 oz. glass containers and is uncoded. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.

Diva Farms has voluntarily agreed to recall this product.

Routine sampling conducted by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets revealed that the product contained insufficient acidification to render the product shelf stable and could support the growth of pathogenic organisms. This product was distributed in the upstate New York area.

Consumers who have this product should not consume it. They should return it to the place of purchase.
