Consumer Alert: Undeclared Eggs in Bagels

Brooklyn, NY - December 10, 2002 -- State Agriculture Commissioner Nathan L. Rudgers today issued an alert to consumers who are sensitive to eggs to avoid eating "Gotta Getta Bagel, Extra Large Challah" bagels due to the presence of undeclared eggs. The bagels were produced in November by Gotta Getta Bagel, 311 Central Avenue, Lawrence, NY. Gotta Getta Bagel is voluntarily recalling the product.

The bagels are packaged six count, in a clear plastic bag, which is not coded. They were distributed in Manhattan.

Routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets food inspectors revealed the bagels contained eggs, which were not declared on the label. No illnesses or allergic reactions involving this product have been reported.

Consumers who have purchased "Gotta Getta Bagel, Extra Large Challah" bagels should return them to the place of purchase.
