Mrs. Grissom's Salads, Inc. Recalls Products Due to Undeclared Egg Yolks

Nashville, TN. - October 30, 2001 -- Mrs. Grissom's Salads, Inc. of Nashville, Tennessee is voluntarily recalling the following products packaged in plastic tubs:

Tuna Salad, 10 ¾ ounces Dec. 12, 2001, Dec 29, 2001 Jan 5, 2002
Jalapeno Spread or dip, 11 ounces Dec 29, 2001, Jan, 26, 2002
Pimento Cheese Spread, 11 ounces Dec 21, 2001, Dec. 28, 2001, Jan 5, 2002
Houchens Tuna Salad, 10 ¾ ounces Dec. 12, 2001, Dec. 26, 2001, Dec 28, 2001
Houchens Pimento Cheese Spread, 11 ounces Dec. 14, 2001, Dec. 21, 2001, Jan 5, 2002, Jan 12, 2002, Jan 26, 2002.

These products are being recalled because egg yolks are a component of the salad dressing but not sublisted in the ingredient statement. People who are allergic to egg yolks run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these sandwich products.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

These products were distributed in retail stores in Tennessee, Kentucky and Northern Alabama.

Customers who are allergic to egg yolks are urged to return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.
