C.H. Guenther Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Dairy Ingredient in Cinnamon Biscuits
SAN ANTONIO, Texas - December 4, 2001 -- C.H. Guenther & Son, Inc. is voluntarily recalling all frozen retail cinnamon biscuits with icing because they contain a dairy ingredient that was excluded from the ingredient list on the package. The cinnamon biscuits with icing subject to this recall are sold under the brand names of Bob Evans or Owens and are packaged in blue-speckled tins with a brown and blue lid.
People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to dairy products may run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
Although no illnesses have been reported to date, C.H. Guenther is taking this voluntary action to prevent any illness or injury. Production of the product has been suspended until the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the company are certain that the problem has been corrected.
The cinnamon biscuits, seven to a package, subject to this recall could have been purchased at various grocery stores in the following states: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and West Virginia.
This product is being recalled in cooperation with the FDA. C.H. Guenther and
Bob Evans Farms are concerned about the health of their consumers; therefore,
we urge consumers to return the cinnamon biscuits to the store where purchased
for a full refund. This recall does not effect any other Bob Evans or
Owens grocery products, and these products are not served in Bob Evans
Restaurants nor Owens Restaurants. Consumers with questions should contact customer
relations at (800) 939-2338.
