Hammi, Inc. Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Egg in "Homerun Ball Korean Crackers"

Brooklyn, NY - March 28, 2003 -- Hammi, Inc. of Brooklyn, NY, is recalling its 1.62 ounce packages of "Homerun Ball Korean Crackers" because they may contain undeclared egg. People who have allergies to eggs run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The recalled "Homerun Ball Korean Crackers" were distributed nationwide to retail stores. The product comes in a 1.62 ounce sealed foil package marked with code 2003 0917 and item#: 02549.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling by NYS Agriculture and Markets food inspectors discovered that the egg containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of eggs. The consumption of eggs by allergic individuals has been reported to elicit severe reactions. Life threatening and anaphylactic shock could occur in certain egg sensitive individuals upon consumption of eggs and products containing eggs.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

Consumers who have purchased "Homerun Ball Korean Crackers" are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 718-821-5252.
