Ho's Trading Inc. Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Peanuts in Candy

Brooklyn, NY - January 29, 2003 -- Ho's Trading Inc., located at 1010 Dean Street, Brooklyn, NY 11238, is recalling 10oz. plastic bags of Master Chao Candy because the product contains undeclared peanuts. People who have severe sensitivity to peanuts run the risk of serious life threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this product.

The Master Chao Candy, a product of China, was distributed in uncoded, 10oz. plas- tic bags in the following states: New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Texas, Florida, Massachusetts, Georgia, North Carolina, Michigan, Illinois and Pennsylvania.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered through routine sampling by NYS Dept. of Agriculture & Markets food inspectors that the product containing peanuts and was distributed in packaging that did not declare the presence of peanuts. Analysis of the Master Chao Candy revealed that it contained peanuts above 25,000 ppm per serving.

Establishments and consumers who have purchased the 10oz. plastic bags of Master Chao Candy can return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 718-622-2288.
