Honey Heaven Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Pecans and Black Walnuts in Certain Products

Springfield, MO - February 12, 2002 -- Honey Heaven of Springfield, Missouri is recalling its 2, 6, and 12 ounce jars of Pecan, Maple Nut and Blueberry Nut Honey Butters, and Black Walnut and Maple Pecan Honey Syrup. These products are being recalled because they contain pecans or black walnuts which are not listed in the ingredient labeling. People who have allergies to nuts run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

These products were distributed in our Springfield, Missouri Retail Store during the months of November, December of 2001 and January 2002.

The Honey Butter and Honey-Syrup flavors are identified on sticker labels on container lids.

There has been no reported illness to date in connection with this oversight.

The labeling problem was discovered by a FDA inspection. Honey Heaven is making necessary changes to insure all labels state ingredients accurately.

These products may be returned for a full refund or exchange.
