HP Hood Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Almonds in Hood Light Chocolate Cookie Dough Ice Cream

CHELSEA, MA- May 25, 2001 -- HP Hood today is voluntarily recalling half-gallon containers of Hood "Light Chocolate Cookie Dough Ice Cream" with code of 04/24/02. The code is located on the end flap of the carton. Consumers should note that there are almonds in the ice cream and could pose a health risk to anyone with an allergy to almonds.

The affected product has been distributed to grocery retail outlets in New England and upstate New York. One reaction following consumption of this product has been reported.

The problem is confined to half-gallon containers of Hood Light Chocolate Cookie Dough Ice Cream with a code of 04/24/02 only. No other Hood products are affected.

Consumers may return the affected ice cream to their local store to obtain a refund.
