Jasper Products Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Dairy Protein in Store Brand Soymilk
Joplin, MO - December 12, 2002 -- Jasper Products of Joplin, MO is recalling 5,069 cases of 32 fluid ounce cartons of soymilk packaged under the brand names of Stop & Shop, Western Family, Safeway Select, and Full Circle because it may contain undeclared dairy proteins. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to dairy proteins run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
The soymilk was distributed directly to warehouses in Washington, Oregon, Utah, Missouri, New York and Minnesota for further distribution to retail grocery stores nationwide in 32 fluid ounce cartons under the following brands and lot codes: Stop & Shop Original Soymilk lot code 2280P1F1A, Stop & Shop Vanilla Soymilk lot code 2280P1F1A, Western Family Vanilla Soymilk lot code 2280P1F1A, Safeway Select Vanilla Soymilk lot codes 2280P1F1A and 2280P1F2A, Full Circle Original Soymilk lot code 2280P1F1A, Full Circle Vanilla Soymilk lot code 2280P1F2A.
There has been one incident of an allergic reaction reported to date. After learning of the incident and our resulting follow up investigation, it was determined the products may contain undeclared dairy proteins. The problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the company's production process.
Consumers who have purchased the product listed above are urged to return them
to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact
