Kash n' Karry Announces Recall of In-Store Baked Chocolate Croissants Due to Undeclared Pecans

Tampa, FL - February 1, 2002 -- Kash n' Karry Food Stores, based in Tampa, Fla., is recalling packages of its in-store baked chocolate croissants because they may contain undeclared pecans. People who have allergies to pecans could run the risk of a life-threatening or serious allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The recalled chocolate croissants were sold in Kash n' Karry supermarkets throughout Central Florida. The product is located in the bakery section of Kash n' Karry stores, packaged in clear plastic containers and labeled as "Kash n' Karry Chocolate-Filled Croissants," in various weights.

The recall was initiated after Kash n' Karry discovered that the pecan-containing product was sold in packaging that did not indicate the presence of pecans. The product has been removed from Kash n' Karry store shelves.

Consumers who have purchased in-store baked packages of Kash n' Karry Chocolate Croissants are urged to return them to the store of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact Kash n' Karry at 1-800-882-2505 or 1-800-522-3367.
