Leonard Novelty Bakery Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Milk in Product Item #NC822, No Cholesterol Assorted 16 oz. Packaged Cookies

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- Moonachie, NJ -- May 9, 2003 -- Leonard Novelty Bakery, 8 Empire Road, Moonachie, New Jersey, is recalling No Cholesterol Assorted 16 oz. Packaged Cookies because it may contain undeclared milk. People who have allergies to milk may run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The recalled No Cholesterol Assorted 16 oz. Packaged Cookies, dated July 9, 2003, were sold in the metro New York-New Jersey and New England area markets.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Market food inspectors revealed the presence of undeclared milk in No Cholesterol Assorted 16 oz. Packaged Cookies in packages which did not declare milk ingredient on the label.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

Consumers who have purchased No Cholesterol Assorted 16 oz. Packaged Cookies, should return it to the place of purchase.
