Mon Chong Loong Trading Corp. Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Sulfites in "Chinese Dates"

Maspeth, NY - December 6, 2002 -- Mon Chong Loong Trading Corp. of Maspeth, NY is recalling all of its "Chinese Dates", because they contain undeclared sulfites. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The "Chinese Dates" were distributed in the New York metropolitan area through retail stores.

The product is packaged in uncoded, sealed foil bags, with labeling in Chinese and English. It is a product of China.

There have been no reported illnesses or allergic reactions involving this product as of this date.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling by the Mew York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors revealed the presence of sulfites in the product which were not declared on the label.

Consumers who have purchased "Chinese Dates" are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 718-417-1668.
