Mon Chong Loong Trading Corp. issues allergy alert on undeclared sulfites in dried apricots

MASPETH, NY- May 14, 2001--Mon Chong Loong Trading Corp. of Maspeth, N.Y., is recalling 50 cases of Dried Apricot, because the product may contain undeclared sulfites. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume these products.

The product was distributed in New York through retail stores.

The product is packed in 7-ounce plastic bags and is orange in color. Printed on the back of the package is the statement "packed by Tim Heung Yuen Nut & Confectionery Ltd., Kwai Chung, N.T."

No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that although the product contained sulfites it had been distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of sulfites.

Consumers who have purchased this Dried Apricot product are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Or you may call Mon Chong Loong Corp. at 718-417-1668 for details with regard to how to return the product.
