Niki's Food Company Recalls Salad Dressing Due to Undeclared Egg Yolk

Detroit, MI - July 26, 2002 -- Niki's Food Company of Detroit, Michigan, is recalling:

Niki's 16 oz. Greek Dressing
Niki's 16 oz. Feta Dressing
Niki's 16 oz. Garlic Ranch Dressing
Niki's 22 oz. Submarine Dressing
One Gallon containers of Niki's Greek Dressing

The products contain undeclared egg yolk. People who have allergies to egg yolk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The product is distributed nationwide in retail stores, restaurants and through institutions.

There have been no confirmed related illnesses to date.

The problem with the label was noticed during a routine inspection by the Michigan Department of Agriculture. The dressings contain egg yolk and this ingredient was not listed on the label. All One Gallon containers shipped before May 29, 2002 and all 16 oz. products shipped before July 29, 2002 are subject to the recall.

Consumers who have purchased any of the mislabeled products are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact Niki's Food Company at (313) 964-0333.
