Rhee Bros., Inc. Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Egg in "Margaret" Brand Korean Cookies

Columbia, MD - October 19, 2001 -- Rhee Bros., Inc. of Columbia, MD, is recalling its 8.04 ounce packages of "Margaret" brand Korean cookies because they contain undeclared egg. People who have allergies to eggs run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The recalled "Margaret" brand Korean cookies were distributed nationwide in Asian food retail stores. The product comes in an 8.04 ounce, cardboard box marked with 'Lotte Margaret' and 'Soft Cookies'. Its item number is 09828K on the label.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

The recall was initiated after sampling by New York state food inspectors discovered that the egg-containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of egg.

Consumers who have purchased 8.04 ounce packages of "Margaret" are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 1-410-381-9000.
