FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- Syracuse, NY -- November 3, 2003 -- River Valley Foods, Inc., Syracuse, NY is recalling Sugar Free Golden Pound Cake because it may contain undeclared milk protein. People who have allergies to milk protein may run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product.
The recalled Sugar Free Golden Pound Cake, no expiration date, 14oz. size is sold in the Bakery Department of Grocery Stores. This product was distributed in grocery stores in New York and Pennsylvania.
The recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors revealed the presence of undeclared milk protein in Sugar Free Golden Pound Cake in packages which did not declare a milk ingredient on the label.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.
This product is supplied to River Valley Foods, Inc. by the Run a Ton Group of 110 Ridgedale Avenue, Morristown, New Jersey 07962.
