Royal Seafood Market Inc. Recalls Iriss "Skolenu" Candy Due to Undeclared Peanuts

Brooklyn, NY - November 8, 2002 -- State Agriculture Commissioner Nathan L. Rudgers announced today that Royal Seafood Market Inc., 2339 65th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11204 is recalling Iriss "Skolenu" (aka) Toffees "Skolenu" because the candy contains undeclared peanuts. People who have allergies to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The recalled product, Iriss "Skolenu", is packaged in a 200-gram clear, vacuum-packed plastic pouch with a code number 090903. It is a product of Latvia.

The product was discovered during a routine inspection by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets food inspectors at Royal Seafood Market Inc. in Brooklyn. Royal Seafood Market Inc. indicates the product was distributed in the New York City metropolitan area. No illnesses have been reported to date.

Consumers who have purchased this product are urged to return it to the place of purchase.
