The Run-A-Ton Group, Inc. Issues Allergy Alert on Potential Undeclared Egg Ingredient in Wholly Healthy Two Crust Pies

Morristown, NY - April 29, 2002 -- The Run-A-Ton Group, Inc. of Morristown, NJ is voluntarily recalling all two crust "Wholly Healthy" pies manufactured prior to April 27, 2002 because these products may contain undeclared eggs. Individuals who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to eggs run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

Wholly Healthy Pies are distributed nationally through natural foods retailers and some supermarkets. These products are marketed via the store's freezer case and pre-baked in the store's bakery section.

The voluntarily recall was initiated after a routine inspection of the manufacturing facility revealed that an "egg wash" was inadvertently being applied to the crust of the pies. There is no indication that this condition existed prior to this event, however the company is removing all product from stores as a precaution. No illnesses have been reported to date.

Wholly Healthy Pumpkin Pies are not affected by this voluntary recall. Eggs are on the ingredient legend of this variety. A list of items affected by the voluntary recall can be found below.

Consumers who have purchased Wholly Healthy Pies should return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 1-800-247-6580.
